We were brought in to transform a space dominated by artificial turf and black stone—surfaces that absorbed heat and made the outdoor areas uncomfortable during summer—into a cool, breathable environment that works in harmony with the coastal climate.

The artificial grass was removed and replaced with layers of living plants that breathe and grow with the environment. The hardscape was redesigned using natural, responsive materials that react to the weather, cooling underfoot in heat and adapting to changing conditions.

Today, the space invites you back outside barefoot—away from the heat and into a shady, comfortable retreat.
